Meccano Spykee Micro - Review

Tested by 9YO

We were all very surprised with the very small size of the Spykee in comparison to the size of the box.

He was slightly disappointed that the tracks didn’t turn and it was manoevered by small wheels underneath but he was proud that he had built it all himself.

As an adult, I feel the attraction of Meccano is in the challenge of building and I would really have expected about an hour’s worth of entertainment as before an hour was up from opening the box, the novelty of the little robot had worn off.  It has been played with once and left as an addition to his "Build" shelf.

Pros:
  • Easy to build
  • Good introduction to Meccano
  • Quite well priced (Approx £15.00)
  • Simple to operate as a remote control toy

Cons:
  • A bit too easy for my 9YO
  • Tracks don't move

Saying this, it is a sweet little robot and would make an interesting stocking filler and a good introduction to Meccano for younger members of the family.

Step 3 (12-18mths)

Cup closed for travel:

Cup open ready to go!

And in use!

Summary:

Excellent Bottle!

Positive:
  • Great seal - no spills for travelling
  • Drinking straw is covered so kept clean in transit
  • No spills whilst drinking
  • Shape of bottle is great for little hands
  • Straw is soft and gentle for little mouth
  • Easy clean
  • Bright, attractive colours
  • Easy to open

Against:
  • Very slight splash when opening (just open away from body as you would with a can of fizzy drink, to avoid)

Other notes:
  • Little ones need a new technique to use, especially towards the end of the drink, as bottle needs to be held upright instead of tipping;
  • Sucking technique is quite interesting as it requires the straw being squeezed whilst sucked but my 20 month old mastered it immediately.
